Obesity is one of the biggest problem of youth, nowadays, because obesity is the mother of many diseases. Due to obesity and heavyweight, people have to face many disease, like sugar etc. Thin is in, in America. Not only fashion magazines, but also doctors proclaims the importance of healthy and slim body. Yet despite the current obsession with the trim, taut and terrific body, Americans are putting on weight. In studies conducted in 1980, one quarter of Americans were found to be overweight. 15 years later, that number had risen to one third of the population. In the past, doctors have always recommended a combination of diet and exercise of combat obesity. With the increase in the number of people who are overweight, however, this solution in increasingly being seen to be ineffective.

obesity

Given that diet and exercise often do not help to produce weight loss, scientists are becoming convinced that, for many, obesity is a genetic disorder. In 1994,a research group at Rockefeller University discovered in experiments on mice what is now called the obesity, or “ob” gene. In turn this discovery led to the identification of a hormone, termed leptin, that signals to the brain the amount of aft stored in the body. When injected into the rodents, the hormone reduced appetite and increased the body’s utilization of calories, the energy produced by food which the body may convert to fat. With findings like these, a large number of medical experts are turning to s selection of drugs which appear to be safe and effective in reducing weight and maintaining lower weight levels.

Because they see the obesity as an illness, these authorities claim that treatment should involve not only diet and exercise but drugs as well. What they have in mind is not just a short course of medication to produce small degrees of weight loss. They want to prescribe long-term, perhaps lifetime, drug therapies, just as they might for high blood pressure or diabetes. Obesity‘s victims, these doctors hope, will not only be able to lose weight, but will also keep that weight off forever.

Not everyone in the medical community is satisfied with the new therapies. Conservatives are seriously worried that the new drugs are, in fact, merely placebos {“medicines” that have no medicial effect but may benefit the patient psychologically}, or, worse, are actually detrimental to patient’s health. Their concern are understandable.

A few decades ago amphetamines-nicknamed “uppers” or “speed” – were widely prescribed to control weight. Patient became slimmer, but suffered from tension and irritability, higher pulse rates, and sleepless nights, side effects that may have outweighed the medical benefits of lower body weight. Conservatives also point out that risky as amphetamines were, they were generally prescribed only for temporary use. Advocates of new drug treatments leave open the possibility that the medications will be prescribed for a lifetime.

While there are at least five new diet drugs waiting approval by the US Drugs and Food Administration, at the moment, the only diet medication that is normally used in the US is “fen-phen”, a combination of the drugs fenfluramine and phentermine. Fenfluramine boosts serotonin, which elevates mood, while phentermine mimics other substances in the brain. Together, the drugs suppress appetite and increase the rate of burning of calories. As its success become more widely known, demand for this medication is increasing. Prescriptions for fenfluramine in 1995 were expected to be four times what they were the previous year.

For several reasons, however, fen-phen is not the perfect diet medication. First, there is some debate over safety, although most fen-phen researches say the drugs pose minor health risks compared with amphetamines heightens alertness while persuading the body to burn more calories, and fenfluramine, thought to cut cravings for starches and sweet, can cause drowsiness.

Many conservative doctors, moreover, still ermai8n reluctant to diagnose obesity as a disease. In a 1987 survey of 318 physician, two third said their obese patients lacked self control, and 30% described them as lazy. This traditional view holds that obesity results from a lack of discipline, correctable by diet and exercise. Since studies show that most dieters eat more than they say or even think they do, there is probably some truth in seeing a much simpler cause.

On the other hand, the traditional view is challenged by the discovery of the “ob” gene, which would seem to place significant weight loss outside the individual’ control. Then there is the problem of the ever-increasing numbers of those people, with the resulting increase in hypertension, and diabetes, leading to kidney failure and heart disease. All of these condition require medication, if not costly equipment and surgery. If all of these effects of obesity must be treated with medication, why refuse medical treatment to help control body weight? Is not prevention better than a cure?

A number of citizens suffers from a variety of diseases that can be linked to tobacco addiction. In a recent check up camp organized by the Cancer Patients Aid Association, 830 street children were examined and following grim picture was established.

Children between the ages of seven to eight smoked bid is, older boys who were earning members, smoked cigarettes.

The youngster smoker was six years old. All the boys, young and old, smoked ganja.

Girls consumed supari or burnt tobacco powder.

87 children had already acquired pre-cancerous lesions, the youngest member of that group was 11 years old.

“Solutions” or white ink or erasing fluids are also inhaled by these children to get a high.

These substance are easily accessible, legal, and cost a mere Rs. 2.

No smoking

But this trend is not only confined to any particular segment of the society. According to doctor consumption of gutkha and smoking is quite rampant amongst children from higher income group. While there is demand to ban gutkha production, the state government has put the ball in the court of the central government, arguing that the changes in law are to be made by the Delhi bosses. The railway authorities on their part have stopped selling cigarettes on platforms, but the advertisements of the same can be seen everywhere.

According to CPAA officials, consumption of gutkha has gone up considerably in the last few years. Since there is no restriction on the advertisements of this product, even during Ganesha festival, companies producing gutkha sponsor events and display huge ads. Over 50 percent of the people screened so far are addicted to tobacco. The most common form of tobacco use is gutkha and chewing tobacco. Gutkha is being consumed by people of all ages, up to 22 times a day. The older the individual, the most popular chewing tobacco is.

Four million people die every year due to tobacco related causes. Unparalleled expansion of tobacco production and its aggressive and unrestricted promotion, especially in our country, confirms the fears, that by the year 203, 10 million people will is every year of tobacco related causes. Even though, governments are now recognizing and accepting the fact that tobacco harms their economics and kills their countrymen prematurely, not all governments are able to or want to introduce strong effective legislation and contribute in other ways to tobacco control.

More and more young smokers are being recruited into the ranks of tobacco habituate by not only the deceptive and manipulative advertising, but also by sponsorship pf sporting and other youth related activities. Though the industry claims, that use of tobacco is a decision made by informed individuals, the true picture is that today’s youth is making an uniformed choice when it comes to tobacco consumption. This is because the promotion of tobacco by the industry hides the truth about the effects of tobacco and goes to great lengths to make tobacco use seem to be the key to healthy, happy social life.

More important is the fact that nicotine is addictive takes away an individual’s ability to choose.

From the ancient time, Neem is used as medicine because neem is antiseptic and in many diseases neem is used as medicine. So here I am going to share some benefits of neem.

The medicinal, insecticidal and religious significance of neem tree is enshrined in mythology. The reference is that when ‘amrit’, the heavenly nectar, was being taken to Gods, a few drops fell on it. Since then the neem tree has assumed such an exalted position in our life.

The Ayurvedic text shows the efficacy of the tree in almost all sorts of human disease. The renowned Hindu physician and authority “Susruta” has dealt extensively with it.

The bark is a tonic, an astringent, an antipyretic, a cure for nausea and vomiting. It is an effective cure for skin disease and ulcers. The leaf is a known antiseptic.

It is extensively used in treating articaria, laraches, glandular, tumours, pimple, smallpox, jaundice, and ulcer, tuberculosis of the lympathic glands, leprosy, rheumatism and worms.

Neem oil contains a compound ‘nimbridin’ which is a powerful remedy for various skin ailments and pyorrhea. It is also a hair tonic. Its essence is used in toothpastes and beauty aids. The stems serve as tooth brushes, tooth paste and tooth pick. The sweet-smelling flower extract is a very good stimulant and an effective cure for tonic dyspepsia (indigestion). The gum that the tree excludes is effective in curing chronic skin infection, leprosy and general debility.

The insecticidal value of neem is rather phenomenal. A few leaves put info the granary protect it from insects. A layer of neem leaves between the folds keep silks and woolens moth free. Neem is an air purifier and protects people from malaria and cholera. Also there is much therapeutic value for the amber colored gum the tree yields.

As a standard remedy for burns neem leaves are soaked in oil and smeared over burnt tissues. Take crushed leaves in the form of pills grinding it with jiggery, dried in the shade, and consume twice or thrice daily till the burns begin to heal.
Use of neem as an air purifier has proved to be effective as any commercial nitrogen carrier. Urea coated with need cake powder has been found not equally effective but even more economical. These developments are of utmost importance given the fact that an estimated 4, 00,000 cases of poising by pesticides occur in developing countries each year. Of these, at least 10,000 result in death.

Besides, the synthetic pesticides deplete natural resource and costly too. Hence neem is the natural, safe and renewable alternative.

Watermelon is thought to have originated in Africa’s Kalahari Desert. Believe it or not the first recorded watermelon harvest is believed to have occurred nearly 5,000 year ago in Egypt and is even depicted in Egyptian Hieroglyphics on the walls of their ancient buildings. This fruit- which is actually a vegetable, a relative of the cucumber was often placed in the burial tombs of kings to provide nourishment in the after life. Today the watermelon has spread to different countries and can be found on most continents. Watermelon is a sweet, healthy and refreshing fruit, and quite often, people can’t seem to get enough of it. And unlike a lot of other favorite food, it is actually food for you.

Watermelon

Nutritionists have long appreciated the health benefit watermelon provides and the American Heart Association recently recognized the watermelon’s nutritional properties, giving it the heart-healthy seal of approval. Now research has shed new light on its potential health benefits.

Lycopene, an antioxidant that may help reduce the risks of cancer and other disease, is present in a high concentration in watermelon. A study conducted is researchers at Harvard University found that men who ate lycopene-rich diets of tomatoes and tomato products had a much lower risk of developing certain cancer, especially prostate cancer.

Watermelon contains about 15 to 20 milligrams of lycopene per two-cup serving. Apart from lycopene, watermelon is also a good source of potassium, vitamin C and vitamin D. The fruit also has diuretic effect, which is probably related to its citrulline and arginine content, which causes an increased synthesis of urea in the lever.

In China, physicians recommend the fruit to build body fluids, moisten the intestine and decrease thirst. It helps to detoxify the body and remove excess heat. This in turn, reduces the incidence of canker sores, kindly and urinary infection, and kidney stones and dysentery. Watermelon rind has high silicon content and is used in Chinese medicine to treat diabetes and hypertension. The rind can be eaten in small quantities, or can be juiced and drunk which is probably easier. And, surprise- when the rind is rubbed on acne, it helps decrease the blemishes with its cooling nature.

But according to Chinese medicine, watermelon should be avoided by those with weak digestion, anaemia, asthma or excessive or uncontrolled urination.

Naturopathic medicine uses watermelon seeds to relieve urinary pain, and to facilitate the passage of urine. They have also been used to ease backaches caused by kidney stones. They help to soothe the kidneys and the bladder, reducing inflammation the seed contain cucurbocitrin, a compound that dilates the blood capillaries, which can assist in lowering the blood pressure.

On hot summer days, the watermelon is a great choice to replenish body fluids since it is 92 percent water.

Often when people come from any party or pub after drink, they have to face the problem of headache on next morning. This is called hangover. People often go to pub for drinks. A pub is public house. It is a building where people go to drinks and meet their friends. Puns serve alcoholic and other drinks and often also food. Pub culture is an urban phenomenon. A pub is essentially a place for socially. Even collage going girls and boys also going to these pubs and engaging in chit chat. Young boys with money to burn like to take their friends among girls to pubs. Sometimes these visits to pubs lead to inappropriate conduct on the part of youngster. It is quite possible that parents of pub going boys and girls do not like their wards to got to these pubs but they dare not scold them fearing defiance.
