Latium Region – 25 thousand visits to doctors' offices open on weekends
More than 25 thousand people have visited general practitioners' outpatient clinics open on weekends and holidays in Rome since December. Given the good results of this first phase of the project, in the fall the Lazio Region will propose to the General Practitioners to expand the initiative to the provincial capitals: Frosinone, Latina, Rieti and Viterbo with the opening in the first phase of an outpatient clinic for each city. Also this fall, the network will be strengthened by also ensuring pediatric continuity of care.
The project now has 17 outpatient clinics open in all municipalities of the Capital every weekend and holidays of the year. From December to April there were 15 thousand accesses, while from May to last weekend there were just under 11 thousand, thus exceeding the number of 25 thousand accesses. Every week 700 citizens use these continuity of care facilities for primary care medicine, demonstrating the positivity of the project and the fact that this initiative has met with great interest since it is able to respond to a previously unmet demand for care.
